Gazebo & Pergola Install Planner
Ready to go from “Looks Great Online” to “Looks Great Out Back”?
Skip the Backyard Blooper Reel.
It always starts with “how hard can it be?” Then the boxes open: hundreds of parts, bags of hardware and roof panels so big and heavy it takes at least two people up on ladders to hold each one in place. Before a single panel goes up, its protective plastic film has to be peeled off, which can take up to 4 hours on the roof panels alone, on metal that gets hot enough to burn in the Phoenix sun. And if the frame is even a hair out of square, the roof simply won’t go on.
Here’s what happens when you hand it to us instead: a crew of 2–4 installers arrives with every tool the job needs, peels and preps every panel, squares the frame so the roof drops right into place, and anchors it for real Arizona wind. Gazebos and pergolas are finished in one day, unless your install includes new concrete footers, which is a 2-day job with at least 72 hours for the concrete to cure. You get one flat price before we arrive and a $1M-insured crew on your property. See your exact price in the planner above, then grab your install day online.
The Party’s Saturday. The Gazebo’s Still in the Boxes.
You’ve got the guest list, the menu and the playlist. What you don’t have is shade, just a stack of boxes in the garage. Our calendar usually books about a week out, and weekend slots go first, so lock in your install day while it’s open. Cutting it close? Check live availability. Short-notice openings pop up, and you can grab one online in minutes. Don’t see a time that works? Text us at (480) 442-8385 and we’ll see what we can do.
The Cheapest Quote Can Cost You Twice.
We get these calls more often than you’d think: a gazebo half-built in the yard, a roof that won’t line up, and a handyman who stopped answering his phone. There’s a difference between someone who does a little of everything and professional gazebo and pergola installers. Before you hand over your kit, ask 4 questions: Are you insured? Do you have real reviews? Can I see a gallery of real backyards you’ve transformed? Is the price locked in before you start?
Our answers: $1,000,000 in liability coverage (certificate on request) · 200+ five-star Google reviews, 480+ five-star Thumbtack reviews and neighbor faves on Nextdoor · a gallery of real backyards we’ve transformed · one flat price confirmed before we arrive. No meter running, no surprises, no disappearing act.

“I hired Helping Hands to build my Gazebo that I had purchased on-line. The crew led by CJ was amazing. I am a retired contractor and always believed in doing the job right the first time and was really pleased that these guys did the same. Helped by his son TJ and another great worker Jayden, they put in a full day of about 10 hours and did a perfect job. Very pleasant to work with and would not hesitate to hire again. Also, I must mention that the real star of the business is CJ’s wife Amber. From the second you make contact with this all-star you will have full confidence that the project will go smoothly. Whatever you need help with you can go forward in full confidence with this family business.”

“Showed up on time and got the job done! I had bought a Costco gazebo that had a book of instructions. I’m so glad I looked for someone who knew what they were doing to put it together. So worth it!”

“CJ and crew did a great job assembling my 12x14’ gazebo. The arrived by 8am and were cleaned up and finished by 2:30pm! Very efficient and professional. Highly recommend them! Amber in the office was great too!”

“Highly recommend! This company has hands down the best customer service. Amber was great to work with and was even able to get us scheduled early due to a cancellation. CJ and his team arrived a few minutes early and we saw them across the street waiting patiently until they walked up at exactly 7:45 am. They worked hard assembling a very large pergola and cleaned up after. So impressed with the entire process. Will definitely use again.”

“About a year ago I discovered Helping Hands because they have extensive experience in installing Yardistry gazebos and I found one I liked at Costco. At the time I was also moving and I realized that they do moving as well so I hired them for that project as well.”
“Both projects went flawlessly. These guys do great work. The gazebo was installed with concrete footings and placed exactly where I needed it to go (my HOA cares a lot about exact placement.) They were flexible to my moving needs and willing to make an extra stop (some of my stuff was at my old place, some was at a storage unit.)”

We level, square and anchor every pergola, free-standing, on pavers or into an existing slab, so it stays put through monsoon season and looks right from day one.

• Aluminum and steel pergolas: low-maintenance and powder-coated
• Louvered pergolas: manual or motorized louvers you open and close (kits like Purple Leaf)

Finish the Space While We’re There
Add these to the same visit, and your shade spot is ready for the party.
• BBQ grills, pellet smokers and flat-top griddles
• Fire pits and fire pit tables (gas or wood-burning)
• Patio heaters (propane or electric)
• Cantilever umbrellas and porch swings
Finishing the backyard? Make it one crew, one visit. We also build storage sheds, swing sets and playsets, install basketball goals, assemble patio furniture and handle TV mounting, so the inside looks as good as the outside.
How Will It Be Anchored?
Pick the spot that matches yours to see exactly what we do, what it costs and how long it takes.
Grass or dirt
We build it right where you want it, using your kit’s ground stakes if it came with them (not every kit does).
Price: included · Install time: 1 day
Artificial turf
We set it on top of your turf with your kit’s stakes. No footers, and no cutting the turf.
Price: included · Install time: 1 day
Concrete slab or pavers
We drill and bolt each post down.
2 posts $100 · 4 posts $150 · 6 posts $200 · Install time: 1 day
New concrete footers (grass, dirt or pavers)
We dig, pour new footers and anchor your posts.
Wood structure: 2 posts $300 · 4 posts $500 · 6 posts $700
Metal structure: 2 posts $400 · 4 posts $600 · 6 posts $800
Install time: 2 days (at least 72 hours for the concrete to cure)
Footers already in the ground, level with it
We anchor your posts to them.
Price: no extra charge · Install time: 1 day
Footers already in place that stick up (raised or bucket)
We anchor to them. We don’t build raised footers. They need to be level and lined up with your posts, and we can’t be responsible for uneven footers.
4 posts $250 · 6 posts $300 · Install time: 1 day
Travertine or hollow tile
We don’t drill into it because it can crack. Text a photo to (480) 442-8385 and we’ll talk options.

Gazebo & Pergola FAQ
-
Grass or dirt: the stakes that come with your kit, or concrete footers we dig and pour
Artificial turf: your kit’s stakes, for minimal disruption to your existing landscaping (we don’t cut turf for footers)
Concrete slab or brick/concrete pavers: we drill and anchor right in (from $100)
Pavers + footers: we can lift a few pavers and set footers underneath
Travertine or hollow tile: we don’t drill or anchor into these, because they can crack
-
Most kit gazebos and pergolas take 6–8 hours with a 2–3 person crew, finished in one visit. If we’re digging and pouring concrete footers, plan on a 2-day job so the concrete can cure before the structure goes up. We confirm the exact plan when we quote.
-
Footer installs are a 2-day project. On day 1, we assemble your gazebo and dig and pour the footers. The concrete then cures for at least 72 hours. On day 2, we come back to finish and anchor it to the footers.
Payments: a 20% deposit when you book, 75% of the remaining balance at the end of day 1, and the rest at the end of day 2.
-
Yes!
Existing in-ground footers (level with the ground): no extra charge to anchor to them.
Existing raised footers, including concrete poured in buckets: we can anchor to them for +$250 (4 posts) or +$300 (6 posts), since they take more time to line up and secure.
Just so you know: we don’t build raised or bucket footers, and since we didn’t pour them, we can’t be responsible if they’re uneven.
-
Your gazebo will be securely anchored and ready to enjoy. For a seamless, custom finish, a landscaper can re-set or trim the surrounding pavers to frame each post beautifully.
-
Great question! If you’d like extra peace of mind before we dig footers, you can contact Arizona 811, a free service that marks underground utility lines. Just call 811 or request it online a few days before your install. It’s completely optional on our end, and happy to help either way!
-
Some kits do, some don’t — it depends on the brand and model. If anchor spikes or hardware come in the box, we install them as part of the build. If your kit doesn’t include them, just let us know before your appointment and we can bring our own. Staking is for turf or dirt and it’s the least disruptive way to anchor — no digging, no concrete, and minimal disturbance to your landscaping. On an existing slab we drill and anchor the posts instead, and we can dig and pour footers if you want the most permanent option.
-
Permit requirements can vary by city, property, size, placement, HOA guidelines, setbacks, and how the structure is being anchored, so we’re not able to determine whether a permit is required for your specific property.
Why we can’t answer this for you:
Every city sets its own requirements. Phoenix, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Chandler and every other Valley city have different codes.
The answer depends on your exact property: the structure’s size and height, how close it sits to your house and property lines, easements or utility lines, and whether it’s freestanding, on footers or anchored to a slab.
HOA approval is separate from the city. You may need one, both or neither.
Only your city can give an official answer for your address, and permits are applied for by the property owner.
We recommend contacting your city’s Planning or Building Department before installation to confirm whether a permit or approval is needed. Have these ready when you call: the structure’s size and height (from the product listing), where it will sit on your property, and how it will be anchored. If they ask for our Certificate of Insurance, we’re happy to send it.
-
No. We only install gazebos and pergolas as freestanding structures, meaning they stand on their own and don’t connect to your house. We don’t attach them to your walls, stucco, roof or eaves. That keeps holes out of your home and keeps your roof untouched.
Shopping for a pergola? Choose one labeled freestanding. We don’t install kits made to attach to a house.
What we can do:
Anchor it to your concrete patio or slab (drill-and-anchor add-on)
Set it on grass or dirt with ground stakes
Dig and pour concrete footers for the most permanent option
-
No. We install pergolas and gazebos new in the box and according to the manufacturer’s original instructions and specifications. We don’t cut posts, shorten the height, change the frame or attachment points, or install kits that have already been modified or painted (paint can seal parts together and cover the part numbers we build from). Any of these falls outside our installation scope, and we would not be able to assist with the installation.
Why: we stand behind every structure we build, and that depends on it going together exactly as the manufacturer designed it. Once a kit is cut or changed, the pre-drilled holes and connections no longer line up, and we can’t guarantee its strength or safety, especially through Arizona monsoon winds.
Before you buy: measure your space and compare it to the product’s listed height, width and footprint, including clearance under patio covers, rooflines, trees and walls. We’re not able to confirm fit from photos or product links, so double-check your measurements before you order.
-
We install gazebos and pergolas up to 12x20 feet, including 16x16 models, which covers the most popular Costco, Home Depot and Wayfair kits. Want to cover a bigger area? We can install two side by side. Planning something larger? Text us your model at (480) 442-8385 and we’ll talk it through. Not sure which size you have? Enter your measurements in the planner above, and it’ll match you to the right option.
-
Bringing your boxes from the driveway or garage to an adjacent yard is free. For longer carries, it’s a flat $50.
-
Yes, box and packaging removal starts at $35. Add it when you book.
-
Usually you don’t need that. Send us the product link or a photo of the kit box, plus a few shots of the spot it’s going — the surface, how level it is, and the gate or side-yard access — and we can quote you accurately, often the same day. If you’d still like someone to walk the yard in person, CJ does a 30-minute On-Site Consultation & Quote for $50, paid up front when you book. Those slots fill several days out, so photos are usually the faster way to a firm price: Book an on-site consultation
-
No. Plenty of customers are at work while we build. Share gate codes or side-yard access before we arrive, and keep your phone handy: we’ll call or text if a question comes up, send photos when it’s finished, and you’ll need to be reachable to pay the remaining balance when we’re done (for 2-day footer installs, at the end of each day).
-
Yes! Installing more than one gazebo or pergola at the same property, like a gazebo by the pool and a pergola over the patio? Text us the brand and model or the product links at (480) 442-8385, and we’ll send your bundle price. Prefer to talk? Call anytime.
-
It happens more than you’d think: a missing part, a roof that won’t line up, a crew that didn’t finish. Text us a few photos at (480) 442-8385, and we’ll let you know if we can help.

Our gazebo installs are a flat rate by size, never hourly:
Grill gazebo (5x8): $425
Small (8x8, 8x10, 8x12 grill gazebo, 9x9): $725
Medium (10x10, 10x12, 10x13, 10x14, 11x11, 11x13 octagon, 12x12): $875
Large (12x14, 12x16, 13x13, 13x15, 14x14): $1,075
XL (12x18, 12x20, 16x16): $1,275
Pergolas run $625 (small) to $975 (XL) in the same sizes. Anchoring, footers and extras are optional add-ons, and the planner above shows your exact total in about a minute.
-
No — we don’t have an hourly rate. Your gazebo gets one flat price, set before we start.
Hourly pricing turns your backyard into a stopwatch. You should be picking out the wine you’ll drink under your new gazebo — not timing every water break in July.
Hourly math is optimistic math. Nobody has ever finished a job and said “that took less time than they thought.” And hourly is rarely just hourly — there’s usually a two-hour minimum, a fuel add-on, another fee if it turns out to need two people. A flat rate means one number. All of it. After 25 years we don’t estimate how long this takes. We know.
-
The most expensive five words in home projects: “how hard can it be?”
You’ve got the boxes — all of them — the ladder, the drill, and a manual thicker than a Cheesecake Factory menu. Those are the ingredients. Helping Hands has the recipe.
The recipe is 25 years of building these under the Arizona sun — knowing the order that makes a gazebo go up smooth, square and solid, often beating the time printed on the box. It’s not our first gazebo. It’s not even close.
That’s the part that doesn’t come in the box.
✅ Build-Day Checklist & Phoenix Care Tips
-
1. All the boxes are here. Check the box labels (box 1 of 4, 2 of 4…) so nothing is missing on build day.
2. Keep everything together. Leave the boxes sealed, with the manual and hardware bags inside. Opening and sorting them ahead of time is how small parts go missing.
3. Know your spot. Mark exactly where it goes and which way it should face, so we can start building the minute we arrive.
4. Clear a path from where the boxes are to the build spot, with gates unlocked and side yards clear.
5. Clear the build spot: move furniture, planters and décor out of the way.
6. Sprinklers off the day before and the morning of, with sprinkler heads near the spot flagged.
7. Pets inside while we work.
8. Out at work? No problem. You don’t need to be home. Just share gate codes or side-yard access, and stay reachable by call or text so we can answer any questions and collect the balance when we finish. We’ll text you photos when it’s done.
-
Monsoon ready: tie back or take down curtains and netting before big storms. Fabric catches wind like a sail.
Rinse, don’t blast: hose dust off metal and polycarbonate roof panels with a gentle spray. No pressure washer.
Wood loves sealer: cedar turns gray in Arizona sun. A clear sealer or stain once a year keeps it looking new.
Keep sprinklers off the posts: constant water on wood posts and metal feet shortens their life.
Clear the roof: leaves and debris in roof seams hold moisture, so brush them off after windy days.
Plug-in extras: unplug LED kits and motorized screens before monsoon lightning.
Enjoy it, and show it off! Send us a photo of you enjoying your gazebo or pergola, and get a discount coupon code for your next service when we feature it online.
